Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) Project
Overview:
The City of Toronto, Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario together with the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), is constructing an easterly extension of the Bloor-Danforth Subway (Line 2) to better serve Scarborough’s 650,000 residents. The proposed Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) Project will replace the ageing Scarborough RT and contribute to an integrated and comprehensive rapid transit network that will improve transit service in Scarborough and across Toronto.
The new extension will extend the Bloor-Danforth Subway (Line 2) north and east from Kennedy Station to Scarborough Centre. This will create a seamless journey for transit users by eliminating the need to transfer at Kennedy Station. The proposed new extension is a critical part of relieving regional congestion, and is required soon to replace the ageing Scarborough RT.
